Prisoner dies after suffering medical episode at Arthur Gorrie Correctional Centre

A prisoner has died at a south east Queensland prison with Corrective Services announcing a review into the death.

A prisoner has died after suffering a medical episode at the Arthur Gorrie Correctional Centre west of Brisbane on Friday.

A 37-year-old man collapsed while exercising shortly before 10am on Friday.

Officers immediately attempted to revive the man, but paramedics confirmed the man was deceased.

A report is being prepared for the Coroner.

“All deaths in custody are reviewed by the Coroner as standard procedure,” a Queensland Corrective Services spokeswoman said.
