Orion Springfield Central: Charges after man stabbed in stomach

Police have laid charges after a man was stabbed in the stomach at a major South East Queensland shopping centre.

A man was stabbed in the stomach in an altercation at a major South East Queensland shopping centre at the weekend.

The incident happened at Orion Springfield Central in Ipswich about 4.30pm on Saturday.

A 57-year-old Ripley man was stabbed in the stomach. He was taken to Brisbane’s Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.

A 23-year-old man was located at a Springfield Lakes residence a short time later.

He was arrested and charged with unlawful wounding, and was expected to appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court on Monday.
