A measles alert has been issued by Gold Coast Public Health Unit following a confirmed case of measles in an adult who had recently travelled overseas and arrived in Brisbane.

A measles alert has been issued by Gold Coast Public Health Unit following a confirmed case of measles in an adult who had recently travelled overseas.
The person was unknowingly infectious when travelling to Brisbane from Perth on Friday, June 6.
The locations and times where people may have been exposed to the virus include:
– Qantas flight QF938 on Friday, June 6, departing Perth at 1.05pm and arriving in Brisbane at 7.10pm.
– Brisbane Domestic Airport on Friday, June 6, between 7.10pm and 8.35pm
– Gold Coast University Hospital, Emergency Department waiting room on Tuesday, June 10, between 1.07pm and 3.50pm.
While the locations pose no ongoing risk, Gold Coast Health said anyone who visited them during the specified dates and times should monitor for symptoms.
Symptoms usually start around seven to 10 days after contact with a person with measles, but it can take up to 18 days for symptoms to appear after an exposure.
