Man arrested for allegedly driving at pedestrians in Beachmere carpark

A man has been charged after allegedly trying to mow down pedestrians in a carpark north of Brisbane.

A man has been charged after allegedly intentionally trying to mow down pedestrians in a carpark north of Brisbane early on Saturday morning.

Emergency services were called to a carpark on Saint Smith Road in Beachmere just before 1am after receiving reports a 29-year-old man driving a Nissan X-Trail was driving at pedestrians.

A 45-year-old man sustained non-life-threatening injuries to his lower body after being struck by the vehicle and was transported in a stable condition to the Caboolture Hospital.

It’s understood the vehicle fled the scene but was later tracked down by Police to Old Beachmere Road and arrested a the 29-year-old Caboolture driver.

The man was charged with one count each of assaults occasioning bodily harm, assaults occasioning bodily harm while armed, acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, dangerous operation of a vehicle and did drive under the influence of liquor (motor vehicle).

He is due to appear in Caboolture Magistrates Court on Monday, June 16.

No other physical injuries were reported.

Queensland Police said investigations remain ongoing.
