Horror Buderim car crash on Ballinger Rd caught on video

A resident has described how his house ‘shook’ when a car crashed into parked vehicles on a busy Sunshine Coast road.

Wild footage of a crash on a busy Sunshine Coast road has shown the moment a car slams into a parked car, forcing it into another car on a driveway before coming to rest in a hedge.

The incident occurred on Ballinger Rd in Buderim yesterday morning, May 15.

A resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said the crash created a “loud smash” that shook his house.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said an initial investigation showed a Nissan Qashqai was travelling south on the road when it hit a parked Mazda CX-3 and a parked Mazda 6.

“I opened the front door to a car wedged between our gate and a visitor’s car,” the resident said.

Three cars were involved in the crash on Ballinger Rd in Buderim on May 15.

After looking at footage, the resident realised he had captured the seconds before the crash.

“It hit with such impact that it launched the parked car up and over the gutter, taking out our rubbish bins and into a car parked on our driveway,” he said.

“The car immediately flipped on impact and magically landed in between a power pole and a hedge two doors down.”

The parked car on the driveway sustained damage to its panels and was “cushioned” in the crash by the bins, the resident said.

The resident said police arrived at the crash after attending the horror Bruce Hwy incident that left a man dead, a woman seriously injured and a caravan destroyed.

The police spokeswoman said the driver and sole occupant of the Nissan was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

She said no one was in the parked cars at the time of the crash and an investigation continued.
