The family of Queensland firefighter Izabella Nash, who lost her life fighting a blaze in Slacks Creek, have been offered a state funeral to remember her bravery.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services confirmed on Thursday that a public memorial service would be held on Monday May 22 to remember the fallen firefighter.

Izabella Nash, 46, died after being pulled from a burning factory in Slacks Creek on May 2.

Fellow firefighters performed CPR on Ms Nash before she was transported to the Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital in a critical condition.

QFES confirmed she had passed away as a result of her injuries the following morning.

Firefighter Izabella Nash died from injuries sustained while responding to an industrial fire at Slacks Creek on May 2.

A second firefighter, Lia Drew, was also caught up in the incident and was transported from the scene in a serious but stable condition with extensive burns.

Ms Nash’s sister-in-law Jessica Weinert spoke with The Courier-Mail, confirming that a state funeral had been offered but the family had decided to proceed with a private service.

“A public memorial for Izzy will be held, the offer was made for both (services),” Ms Weinert said.

“Izzy’s death has sent shockwaves throughout our community. We’ve lost one of the most caring, fun-loving people, without the opportunity to say goodbye.”

The public memorial to remember Izzy will be held at Nissan Arena at 12.30pm with those wishing to attend advised to purchase tickets.
