A close knit Queensland community is heartbroken after the shock death of one of its sons, rallying around the grief-stricken family.

But loved ones of 14-year-old Dustin Lonergan know he lives on in others through organ donation.

“Right now someone’s heart beats with yours,” Pheebs Humphreys said in a touching tribute to the young teen.

During the week members of the Clermont community lit a candle and prayed for Dusty to recover after he was seriously injured in the motorbike incident over the Easter long weekend.

However on Thursday the heartbreaking news was revealed: “Our beautiful long legged cowboy, Dusty Lonergan, has gone to heaven this afternoon,” Amy Cook shared on social media.

The teen rider had suffered a massive brain injury “and although he put up the fight of his life, unfortunately his injury was far too significant to recover from”, she wrote.

“Being a health (bloody tall) 14 year old, Dust was able to be an organ donor and although our hearts are breaking, there are some lucky people out there that get a second chance at life because of Dusty,” Ms Cook wrote.

“Love you always Dust.”

Heart broken community members have shared their love, support and kind words about an “awesome young fella”, who was a “real little cowboy” and left all who knew him with “so many wonderful memories”.

“Tonight Dusty someone breathes easier because of you,” Pheebs Humphreys wrote.

“Soon someone will see better … because of you. Right now someone’s heart beats with yours.

“Someone that has spent months or years on dialysis living in hope now has been given life.

“You may have only been 14 but you will live on for many years in so many.”

He will be remembered for his “cheeky grin and fun loving spirit”.

Sarah Hollier wrote,” Dusto, forever young and cheeky. Forever loved and will be forever missed. Our hearts are hurting for you all.”

“The most heartbreaking news of a young man called home too soon. I will remember that cheeky grin always. Words aren’t enough but all my love and prayers … Fly high Dusty,” Robyn McMahon wrote.
