A store worker has been hit in the head with a hammer as four people stormed a jewellery store in Brisbane’s northern suburbs on Tuesday afternoon.

A store worker has been hit in the head with a hammer as four armed males stormed a jewellery store in Brisbane’s north suburbs on Tuesday afternoon.

Police say the group of four males entered the Gympie Rd store about 5pm armed with hammers, metal bars and wearing masks.

They smashed glass cabinets and stole a large amount of jewellery before leaving in a grey Honda CR-V station wagon, which is believed to have been stolen from a Calamvale address on Sunday, June 8.

A male staff member was hit in the head with a hammer and was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a stable condition.

Anyone with dashcam or CCTV of the area in the moments leading up to or after the incident, to contact police.

Investigations are continuing.
