A South East Queensland council is considering what action to take after an unregistered dog jumped a fence and attacked a woman walking her dog.

Lee-Anne Shaw was walking her dachshund Chelsea in Caboolture on Sunday morning when she was attacked by an unregistered american staffordshire cross.

Ms Shaw told 7News the dog jumped the fence of its owner’s house and knocked her to the ground.

“Whilst I was on the ground, it kept jumping on me and it kept trying to attack my sausage dog,” she said.

“I do know that dog was very very close to ripping my dog in half because it was only inches from her hind legs.

“It just kept snapping at her.”

The dog’s owner Jerimie Tipler said he did not believe two-year-old Loki was dangerous.

“He’s a good boy,” he told Seven.

“He just doesn’t like other dogs when they’re trying to get at him through the fence.”

City of Moreton Bay Council quickly seized Loki and found that he wasn’t registered.

“When they came and took him, they said that he was a threat,” Mr Tipler said.

Asked if he thought Loki was dangerous, Mr Tipler said: “No. I don’t think he is.

“He does what he’s told, when he’s told.”

Council officers were conducting an investigation to determine any further action.

They told 7News they had a zero-tolerance approach to serious dog attacks.

Ms Shaw said: “Any dog of that size that has no restraint should be put down in a heartbeat.”

While he did not believe Loki was a danger to the public, Mr Tipler said he was sorry the incident had occurred.

It follows three dog attacks in as many days last week.

On Wednesday, a pet dog was mauled to death while on a walk in Brisbane’s Carindale, in Melbourne, a woman was left fighting for life after being mauled by three dogs on Thursday, and on Friday a large dog viciously tore part of its owner’s arm off in Townsville.
