A $2.5m Brisbane Favours the Bold ad campaign aimed at reigniting tourism in the wake of Cyclone Alfred is just business as usual, the Labor council Opposition claims.

Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner thanked the State Government for quickly chipping in $1m to the nationwide and New Zealand ad campaign, aimed at reversing a 40 per cent slump in hotel bookings.

Similar campaigns had helped inject $85 million into Brisbane’s economy, council claimed.

But Labor Opposition Leader Jared Cassidy queried how much of the money was new, saying the Brisbane Economic Development Agency launched similar campaigns “year in, year out’’.
