Prince Harry has for the first time spoken about his meeting with the Queen, as it’s revealed a former presidential bodyguard is watching over Meghan Markle.

Prince Harry has revealed details of his surprise visit to see the Queen.

The US-based royal, who met the monarch at Windsor Castle on his way to the Invictus Games in the Netherlands last week, said “it was great to see her”.

He said the Queen offered words of support for the participants and said she would have loved to be there.

“She had plenty of messages for Team UK which I’ve already passed on to most of them,” the Duke of Sussex told the BBC.

“So, it was great to see her and I’m sure she would love to be here if she could.”

It comes as Meghan Markle is being protected by ex-US President Barack Obama’s former bodyguard.

She was shielded by Christopher Sanchez over the weekend while at the Invictus Games, following the news that Harry and Meghan are suing the British government after his armed bodyguards were removed when the couple quit royal duty to live in the US.

According to The Sun, the prince insists he “does not feel safe” enough to bring his family to the UK.

Ex-Secret Service agent Sanchez spent a total of five years protecting presidents — half of the time George W. Bush, then the same period for Obama.

He has spent 21 years in national security and shielding the rich and famous, and is now a leading light at two high-profile US firms.

Sanchez is director of Professional Protection & Investigations in Texas which says its insurance is “above industry standards”.

It boasts expertise in “hostage negotiations, criminal and forensic investigations, crisis management, advance threat protection”.

He is also vice-president of risk management firm Torchstone, which has provided expertise at ten NFL Super Bowls and the last four Presidential elections.

The Sussexes have signed a £113 million ($A200mn) deal with Netflix who are filming a documentary at the Invictus Games.

But it was not known who was paying for Sanchez’s security — or if Obama recommended his services to Harry.

Former president Obama joined Harry at the Games in 2017.

The guard was first spotted keeping a watchful eye on Meghan, 40, as Harry, 37, took part in the Land Rover Challenge at the event in The Hague, Holland, on Saturday.

He then joined the Duchess as she was driven around the site in an electric golf buggy.

Yesterday he helped guard the British Embassy tent where mum-of-two Meghan took part in a reading class with children of Invictus competitors.

Meghan caught the eye in a stylish £1,944 ($A3440) white blazer by US designer Brandon Maxwell.

She and Harry met participants at the multi-sport event for wounded, sick and injured servicemen. They found themselves wrapped in the Union Jack as they hugged Team UK competitor Lisa Johnston.

The former Army medic and amputee from Doncaster is part of a 61-strong squad.

Harry was also reunited with former paratrooper Jacob Van Gaas, 35, who said afterwards that the Duke was “back where he belongs”.

The pair have been pals since trekking to the North Pole in 2013 to raise money for wounded soldiers.

Jacob declared: “He’s back with his own people, he’s back in an environment that he’s so natural in and that he cares about.”
