BRAVING swells of up to six metres and 70-knot winds, Tasmania Police marine division members Constable Robert Round, Sergeant John Pratt, Inspector Lee Renshaw and Senior Constable Darren Leary rescued three crew members from the fishing boat Jensanette off Maatsuyker Island.

While such acts may not always receive the recognition they deserve, it should never be underestimated the lengths this team goes to, putting their lives at risk, often at odd hours and under severe weather conditions, to rescue those in danger.

The team was presented with the Heroism medal at the Pride of Australia 2014 Tasmanian awards.
