PRIDE takes centre stage every single time Jack Beardsley helps out with his beloved Camp Quality and his efforts go a long way in helping kids with cancer.

The 26-year-old has been a volunteer with the organisation for six years and now serves as a camp leader, co-ordinating activities and other volunteers across Tasmania.

“It’s been really nice to step into that leadership role,” Mr Beardsley said. “I really enjoy it. I get to give something back to Camp Quality and it’s really nice to be able to relay what I’ve learnt and help others.”

Mr Beardsley has been nominated in the Community Spirit category of the Pride of Australia awards.

He first volunteered for the organisation after his friend joined due to a shortage of male volunteers.

He works tirelessly out of hours to help arrange three major camps a year as well as organising mini-camps and family camps.

This year he won the Tasmanian Gillard Volunteer Award for his work.

The nomination period for the annual Pride of Australia awards runs until July 19. Nominate an unsung hero here.
