A NEW councillor has been elected to an East Coast council after a sudden resignation.

The Tasmanian Electoral Commission yesterday said Grant Robinson was elected to serve as councillor at Glamorgan Spring Bay Council until the 2022 local government elections. Mr Robinson successfully contested the recount ahead of John Heck and Kenneth Gregson for the seat vacated by outgoing councillor Keith Pyke, who resigned last month citing personal reasons.

Mr Pyke served as councillor since January 2019 when he was elected on a recount prompted by the death of councillor Michael Kent.
