TASMANIA Police will take to the air in unmanned drones to crack down on late-night hoons.

The State Government will spend $400,000 over four years on the rollout of the program.

Police officers will be trained to use the drones.

The Government says the drones will be used by police to ensure it can capture vehicles used late at night hooning, street drag nights and mini bikes used in urban areas.

The Government has also earmarked $4.7 million to be spent from 2019 over two years to replace the police vessel Dauntless.
