PREMIER Will Hodgman has told reporters to “relax” in the face of questioning over when he plans to call the state election.

Mr Hodgman has consistently said there will be a March state election, but the precise date of the poll remains under wraps.

Earlier today, Mr Hodgman said he would call the election “in the very near future.”

“We’ve got some governing still to do. Cabinet will meet this week and we will continue to ensure that the state is on the right trajectory, the right path moving forward,” Mr Hodgman said.

“You do need to relax, I think you’ll be among the first to know. We’ll make an appropriate announcement in due course.”

Earlier this week Opposition leader Rebecca White said: “I’d be happy to have an election, if they would only announce it I’d be very pleased.”

March 3 has been tipped as the most likely date for the poll, with March 17 and March 24 also possible.
