Veteran Tasmanian-based company director, Greg McCann, has been named the new chair of government business enterprise TasPorts, in a major board overhaul that includes the appointment of three new members.
Minister for Infrastructure, Kerry Vincent, said Mr McCann, Evelyn Horton, Wayne Porritt and Zorana Bull would bring a wealth of experience in infrastructure, finance, and strategic governance to TasPorts, following a national search that attracted nearly 200 candidates.
“These appointments will ensure TasPorts continues to deliver services to Tasmanians at the lowest sustainable cost while also growing our economy and engaging with business and community in a constructive manner,” Mr Vincent said.
“The Tasmanian government is confident TasPorts is now well placed to deliver on its role as a key economic enabler for our state, supporting jobs, trade, and regional connectivity through a modern, resilient ports network.”
Mr McCann, whose prior roles include Chair of NBN Tasmania and Director of the Tasmanian Development Board, described TasPorts as playing a vital role in connecting Tasmania to national and international markets.
“I look forward to working with my fellow board members and the broader organisation to support continued delivery, strengthen relationships with stakeholders, and help shape a positive future for the business and for the state,” Mr McCann said.
Minister Vincent paid tribute to outgoing director, Amara Doyle, whose four-year term included six months as interim chair.
“Amara has provided stability and strong leadership during a time of transition, and I thank her for her service to TasPorts and Tasmania,” the Minister said.
