GLENORCHY City Council Deputy Mayor this morning announced he will be resigning at the end of the year.
Matt Stevenson released a statement saying he will be leaving the council due to family reasons.
“I have cherished and valued this role, and honoured to have been elected by our community to serve, and so the decision to resign has taken a great deal of consideration,” Mr Stevenson said.
“However, it is for family reasons, and therefore it was a decision that in the end was not difficult to make.
“I will be relocating to be closer to family in New South Wales at the end of this year.”

Mr Stevenson has for 10 years served as an Alderman and Deputy Mayor of the Glenorchy City Council and will be resigning on December 31.
In his statement he spoke of his professional and personal relationship with Mayor Kristie Johnston.
“It has been a privilege to serve my community alongside Mayor Kristie Johnston in what I would describe as a genuine team,” he said.
“I have valued both our professional relationship and the friendship that has formed with her and her family over the years.
“I love the diversity and character of our community, it has been a feature that has kept me focused throughout the difficult times, and a driver to deliver stability and strength to the administration, ensuring it is able to support members of our community.”
He said he hopes his mantra “policy before politics” remains in his wake.
