Police are searching for the arsonist behind a suspicious car fire on a busy thoroughfare in Freshwater Creek overnight.
Detectives are searching for the arsonist responsible for a suspicious car fire overnight in Freshwater Creek.
Victoria Police spokeswoman Katherine McLeod aid officers responded to reports of a blaze on Ghazeepore Rd about 2.40am on Thursday.
“Geelong Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating a suspicious car fire,” she said.
“There was no one inside at the time.”
A CFA spokeswoman said three units, supported by Fire Rescue Victoria, were able to control the blaze which was deemed safe at 2.54am.
The twisted remnants of the torched car remained on the side of Ghazeepore Rd on Thursday morning.
A nearby paddock was not impacted by the fire.
Ms McLeod said the police investigation remained ongoing.
It comes after a burnt out Nissan Pulsar was found abandoned on the side of the road outside the Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery in Bellbrae earlier in the year.
The incident was also deemed suspicious.
