Sex worker ‘known for seeing couples’ says Latham, Matthews approached her

Racehorse owner, comedian and sex worker Carly Electric has described how she was contacted by ex-federal Labor leader Mark Latham — who this week defended revelations he texted during parliament but denied accusations of abusing his ex-partner.

A sex worker drawn into the middle of Mark Latham and Nathalie Matthews relationship has told how she believes the politician had desires of a threesome that never eventuated.

Carly Electric is a racehorse owner, comedian and sex worker, who was contacted “out of nowhere” by both Mr Latham and Ms Matthews over social media earlier this year.

Ms Electric assumed the couple were interested in her services as an escort, but after messaging back and forth it became clear to her they had no intention of booking.

Despite this Ms Electric did end up meeting the couple at Randwick Races on April 5, before going for drinks and dinner with them after, and even being driven around by Mr Latham as a passenger in a “beaten-up car”, the “kind you’d buy your kid”.

She believes Mr Latham initially put his girlfriend up to messaging Ms Electric, who he called a “keen rooter”.

“A big part of what I do is see couples, I’m known for seeing couples,” Ms Electric said. “I believe Mark already knew who I was and told Nathalie to message me. She just came out of nowhere and it’s like they were love bombing me … each of them separately landed in my DMs.”

Ms Electric said Ms Matthews contacted her first, discussing things including both being females in the racing industry.

When Mr Latham messaged Ms Electric weeks later, she said he initially told her Ms Matthews was his “very good friend”.

They then made offers to fly her to Sydney and join them for lunch at Randwick.

“She (Ms Matthews) was messaging me things like: ‘We’re looking at your photos, we think that you are so stunning’,” Ms Electric said.

“I was like: ‘Are you going to book me’?”

Ms Electric paid her own way to Randwick for the Group 1 Doncaster Mile – in which her horse Iowna Merc was racing – and met Mr Latham and Ms Matthews.

Although sex never eventuated between the trio and a threesome was never discussed, Ms Electric is in no doubt it is why she was contacted.

“It was just implied … who comes to a sex worker and behaves this way?” she said.

“I thought it was quite weird that someone like him would interact with someone like me, he seemed quite excited.”

Since news of Ms Matthews’ allegations against Mr Latham broke this week, Ms Electric has noticed the politician no longer follows her on social media, “which I understand”, she said.

Sexually charged WhatsApp messages between Mr Latham and Ms Matthews obtained by The Daily Telegraph this week include multiple references to Ms Electric.

At one point in March, the now separated couple discussed inviting the sex worker to join them for lunch at Randwick Races.

“On escorts, Carly is in … table for three on Doncaster day!!!” Mr Latham text Ms Matthews.

“I thought she was a comedian,” Ms Matthews replied, before following up with a laughing face emoji.

“Multi skilled. Comedian. Race lover. Keen rooter. Exactly our sort of person!!” Mr Latham responded.

A few days later they discussed how Ms Electric would be attending the races with others. Mr Latham seemed to joke to Ms Matthews about whether the sex worker would want to be involved in a “freak off”.

“OK. No need (for a) 3rd ticket … maybe she wants a freak off haha,” Mr Latham messaged Ms Matthews.

Mr Latham and Ms Matthews were both contacted for comment.
