A man has died in hospital after he was shot in the shoulder during a hunting trip in the state’s west in April.
Emergency services were called to a rural property on Campbells River Rd, Black Springs, around 20km south of Oberon, about 8.50pm on April 18 to reports of a man being shot.
They treated a 69-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the right shoulder.
He was flown to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition, where he later died.
A crime scene was declared and officers from the Chifley Police District established Strike Force Arthurs to investigate.
Three firearms have since been seized for forensic examination.
Police earlier said in a statement the man and his 47-year-old son were securing their weapons on the back of a ute when one round discharged from the younger man’s gun.
Both men had been shooting game on the property.
No charges have been laid.
