Kyle Sandilands ties the knot with Tegan Kynaston

Kyle Sandilands and his bride Tegan Kynaston have wed in an emotional ceremony inside a Darling Point mansion. The normally stoic Sandilands couldn’t hide his tears as he and the mother of their son Otto tied the knot. See the gorgeous pics.

It was the wedding day they had both dreamt of, and it left radio king Kyle Sandilands in tears.

More than the $150,000 floral decor, the immaculate details in the grand old Darling Point castle housing their loved ones, or the “stuff” — at the end of the day, it was about him, bride Tegan Kynaston and Otto.

Just the three of them. And not even rain could dampen something as special as that.

“We’re so lucky,” he told The Sunday Telegraph. “And it’s weird because when you can marry your friend, it’s good.

“We already know we like each other, we already know a lot about each other.

“And she was very calm – I thought maybe she would bridezilla it, but she didn’t.”

Held in the sprawling grounds of prestigious Darling Point estate Swifts — a castle “owned by his mate and built by the man who started Tooheys beer” — the million-dollar wedding started with a moving 3pm ceremony, held in a chapel within the historic homestead.

Exchanging their vows, a normally stoic Kyle Sandilands shed tears as said “I do”.
Tegan looked stunning in a white, off-the-shoulder gown, with hair out and flowing veil, kissing Kyle in front of their cheering guests.
The custom-made gown was designed by Berta Balilti from Israel and purchased from Kayrouz Bridal in Sydney’s beautiful Heritage Post Office building.

Surrounded by their closest family, friends and with eight-month-old son Otto, the pair also honoured Tegan’s Jewish faith by the traditional breaking of the glass at the end of the ceremony.

And, in true Kyle style, he made a point of alerting their punctual guests that his radio partner Jackie O’ Henderson, caught by Sydney traffic, was the last to arrive.

With the nuptials behind them, they moved out onto the grounds of the property, where Conrad Sewell serenaded the newlyweds with his poignant song, Life.

“All the time I’ve wasted without someone like you,” the newlyweds sang along, as Tegan proudly clutched her new husband.

“All the nights I waited for someone like you.

“Tell me you’ve been waiting for someone like me – I’ll give you all I have forever and ever and ever,” they sang.

Emotional guests joined the moment, which ended with the couple enjoying one of their first kisses as husband and wife.

“Give it up for Mr and Mrs Sandilands,” Sewell screamed, as Tegan and Kyle both hugged him for such a special experience.

PM Anthony Albanese held baby Otto after the ceremony, with partner Jodie Haydon labelling him “the baby whisperer”.

“Are you free Wednesday night to babysit,” Tegan joked.

“I’ll be in London, so just drop him round,” the PM replied, laughing as he held the baby.

“Have the best day,” he said to Kyle.

Kyle, his groomsmen and baby Otto all wore tailored suits made by Daniel Narvaez from Mister Mister with custom cufflinks, while a stunning Tegan opted for three “costume changes”.

Their friends Guy Sebastian and Samantha Jade also preformed for guests – and the DJ decks were all set up for the PM to spin some tunes if he chose, with Kyle explaining it was more a “case of whether he was feeling it”.

Tegan’s five bridesmaids were mostly longtime friends from her school days, and on Kyle’s side, it was Kings Cross identity John Ibrahim, Kyle’s former bodyguard Max Lea, Nick Audino, manager Bruno Bouchet and best man, convicted drug smuggler Simon Main by his side.

Other guests included Karl and Jasmine Stefanovic, Guy and Jules Sebastian, Jeff Fenech and wife Suzie, Darryn Lyons and Beau and Kara Ryan.

The entire day set the couple back around $950,000.

“There were so many different little events,” Sandilands explained.

“There is a chapel in the house because of when the church used to own it, and there’s a pipe organ inserted into the wall. So we’ve got some old lady in there playing the pipe organ.

“And then when we left that and went to a different area in the gardens which was covered, for a cocktail, oyster and champagne thing and Conrad Sewell sang there.

“After that, they paraded us around to the marquee where the dinner and the string quartet and Guy Sebastian sang in there for the first dance.

“And then there was a Vivid light display broadcast onto the house throughout the entire duration, so that was incredible.”

After cocktail hour – or two – where the 120 guests enjoyed prawns, oyster shooters and champagne, they moved to the reception for a three-course meal of beef or fish and formalities – including Sandilands’ speech – which were heartfelt words to remember for the normally controversial radio personality.

“Baby – we’ve done it,” he told his new bride, saying watching her become a mother had made him fall in love with her all over again.

“I always thought that the love I was looking for and that I wanted was a delusion and wasn’t achievable.

“You’ve changed my life and made me a better man.

“I love you, baby.”

KYLE DEFENDS ALBO

Earlier, the relaxed bridegroom defended the Prime Minister’s attendance at his million-dollar Sydney wedding this afternoon, saying it isn’t a media stunt.

Preparing for his nuptials at Sydney’s Intercontinental Hotel in Double Bay with his groomsmen on Saturday morning, the shock jock said he had been taken by surprised at the level of backlash to Anthony Albanese attendance.

“I didn’t anticipate it,” he admitted.

“My mum goes — ‘oh I saw on the news this morning that the Opposition were having a problem with poor old Albanese coming to the wedding’.

“And she goes, ‘why would they say something so horrible?’.

“Surely the man can go to a personal event if he wants to, it’s not a 24/7 thing, if anything needed him he’d have to leave — and Mum was all bent out of shape.

“And I was like ‘don’t worry, everyone always slags everyone off’, they’re always going to say something.”

The high profile guest list wasn’t a “media stunt,”, he said. The couple had simply invited the important people in their lives.

“I think people think it’s some sort of publicity stunt or something,” he continued. “None of these people had to come.

“I even said to Albo, you don’t even have to do the DJ thing — that’s just a bit of hoo ha on the radio — and he was like, ‘no, no, I want to come’, and they got the official invite.

“He’s definitely coming. Whether he’s gonna hang around to the wee hours in the Ibiza party or not, I’m not sure.

“But Tegan was at the venue yesterday with her mum and the baby just having a look at the setup and she said there were all the Federal Police all showed up — and I said yes, that’s for the Prime Minister.

“And she was like ‘he’s actually coming?’ and I said ‘yeah, they’ve RSVP-ed’.

“It’s not like I’m dealing with his media liaison officer — so it’s fun.”

NSW Premier Chris Minns and his wife Anna are also on the list — again not because of who he is but because he has the respect of Sandilands.

“Chris Minns is coming with his wife as well and the reason is actually because I was a liberal voter, and I changed to labor because they’re pretty similar — they’re not ‘right versus left anymore’ — Chris is pretty central,” he said.

“And the thing that I loved about Chris Minns is when I was talking to him about Gladys one day and I said ‘the first time you impressed me Chris was when you actually complimented Gladys’.

“I’d never heard anyone in politics compliment someone else — it’s always slagging them off.

“And he goes ’well, credit where credit’s due — she was a popular premier because she kept her word and she always did the best for people — he goes you can’t knock someone like that’.

“And I thought ‘finally, someone who speaks the truth’. And that’s why I started liking Minns and he and his misses are coming along and I’m thrilled.”

CONTROVERSIAL GUEST-LIST

There has also been heated public scrutiny over his bridal party, with groomsmen including Sandilands’ best friend and Kings Cross identity John Ibrahim, his former bodyguard Max Lea and convicted drug smuggler Simon Main.

He calls them “the misfits” — and along with Nick Audino and manager Bruno Bouchet — there’s no one else he would want by his side on such a special day.

“Everyone’s like ‘he’s got drug smugglers as his best man and Ibrahim’s there’ — and I was like, any of these charity events that you see around the place, the rooms full of different types of characters,” he said. “That’s what makes this country up.

“My friend that got in trouble — that was over 25 years ago in his wild youth.

“He’s now a grown man with two children and he gets all embarrassed and I’m like ‘bro you are what you are. You should put it on your business card’, and he has a laugh.

“He is more embarrassed for me — but I don’t give a f**k.

“A friend is a friend, and you stand by your friend even if they have done wrong or do the wrong thing — that’s what real friends do, so I couldn’t care less. We are the misfits.

“A good bunch of guys — and you know what, you will never find more solid friends. And these people are people of their word. If they give you their word on something, by hook or by crook they commit.

“Other people are so flippy floppy — not these guys. My friends are solid.”

THE MORNING BEFORE

While Sandilands talked to The Sunday Telegraph, last minute prep for the million-dollar wedding of Kyle Sandilands and Tegan Kynaston was ramping up.

The non-traditional couple spent the night together last night, with the groom-to-be “kicked out of the house early” to allow Tegan and her five bridesmaids — most being longtime friends from school — to get ready.

Arriving at a Double Bay hotel mid-morning, he was waited for his groomsmen — Kings Cross identity John Ibrahim, his former bodyguard Max Lea, Nick Audino, manager Bruno Bouchet and best man, convicted drug smuggler Simon Main — to join him in getting ready.

Sandilands told The Saturday Telegraph he woke up at home with his bride-to-be and when the house became abuzz with bridesmaids in their matching gowns, Tegan said ‘okay, you best go’.

“We both woke up this morning and people started to arrive — bridesmaids and makeup artists and hair is getting done and bridal girls trying on their dresses — so I had nowhere to be this morning,” Sandilands said.

“There’s people everywhere and girls running around in little robes and everything and Tegan came over and said ‘okay, you best go’ — so off I bounced.

“You know how some people, their mood changes? But we don’t really mind.

“She said, ‘as long as I’m not dragging a trail of mud down the aisle, I’ll be fine’.”

Before going their separate ways, the couple spent the morning with eight-month-old son Otto, who stayed with Tegan for the preparations.

“We spent the morning with little Otto and his little suit arrived so he’s with his mum and some of the boys of the bridal party at the hotel with me and we’re just looking at the clock, looking at each other going ‘we’ve got hours’,” Kyle said.

“We’re all sitting on the bed and on two chairs and we’re like ‘well this feels a bit weird’,” he laughed.

The afternoon ceremony will take place in the chapel of historic Darling Point Mansion, Swifts.

Otto will be by the aisle in his grandma’s arms, wearing a matching tailored suit with his dad, made by Daniel Navaez from Mister Mister.

Tegan will have three “costume changes” during the course of the event, which will be celebrated by 120 of their nearest and dearest, including Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and NSW Premier Chris Minns.

It’s also an anniversary they won’t forget — it with share the date with Tegan’s mum Claire’s birthday.
