Three men and two teens have been charged following an alleged daylight shooting in Sydney’s west, in which a hail of bullets was allegedly sprayed into the home of an alleged underworld crime boss.

At around 9.20am on Thursday, police responded to reports of a shooting at Earl St in Merrylands.

It is understood the intended target of the alleged hit job is Ali Elmoubayed who is an accused senior operative in the Alammedine crime family.

At the time of the shooting Elmoubayed was on his way to Parramatta Local Court, seeking to vary the conditions of his Supreme Court bail in a bid to move house.

No one was home at the time, with a torched Porsche found abandoned in Chester Hill a short time later.

The group were tracked allegedly leaving Chester Hill by Polair, before they were arrested at around 9:40am in Yagoona, while trying to flee from police on foot.

Three men Jimmy Abdulrahim 22, Asim Fagouf, 20 and Mustafa Musa, 23 are charged with conspire to discharge firearm and intend to cause grievous bodily harm, fire firearm at dwelling, damage property by fire and participate in a criminal group.

The 22-year-old man was also charged with acquiring a pistol while subject to a firearms prohibition order.

At around the same time in Greystanes, a Ford Territory was allegedly seen driving erratically before crashing at Prospect Road.

Investigations are underway as to whether the crash is linked to the shooting, with police seizing fuel-filled jerry cans, bleach, balaclavas and a knife from the vehicle.

The teenage passengers, both aged 17, were placed under citizens arrest by bystanders before they were taken into police custody.

They are charged with take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, accessory before the fact to damage property, custody of a knife in public and participate in a criminal group.

One of the teens was also charged with additional offences relating to an alleged home invasion in Ermington back in February.

They were both refused bail to appear in Children’s Court today.
