Cyrus Jewellery in Newtown allegedly robbed with replica gun

A man is on the run after allegedly threatening staff at an inner west jewellery store with what is believed to be a replica gun during a daylight armed robbery.

A man is on the run after allegedly threatening staff at an inner west jewellery store with what is believed to be a replica gun during a daylight armed robbery.

Police say they were called to Cyrus Jewellery on King St in Newtown about 12.15pm after reports an armed hold-up was taking place.

Officers later found a replica firearm, which is believed to have been used in the incident, near the scene.

Police, who have been established a crime scene, said there was no ongoing threat to the public.

It is not clear whether the alleged robber made off with any jewellery.
