Police have established a crime scene at a major supermarket in the state’s far west after a body was found inside.

At about 8.15am on Wednesday, emergency services were called to the Coles supermarket on Gossan Street, Broken Hill, following reports a man had been found deceased.

Officers attached to Barrier Police District were told the man – believed to be in his 70s – died at the supermarket.

A crime scene has been established and the death is not suspicious.

A NSW Police spokesperson said the man had died following a medical episode and that establishing a crime scene was a “matter of routine”.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
