A Tweed house where a landlord was found dead – allegedly murdered at the hands of her young tenant – has hit the market, with an agent in his sales spiel calling it an “incredible opportunity for buyers to create their own happy ending”.

The three-bedroom, one-bathroom home at 17 Lakes Dr, Tweed Heads West, was the scene of what police allege was a murder in early February last year when the body of Donna Baraket, aged in her 60s, was found in the home during a police welfare check.

The “usually peaceful” street was transformed when scores of police and ambulances arrived at the address, before Ms Baraket’s body was wheeled out in a body bag by forensic crews.

Witnesses described police officers emerging from the home “white as ghosts” after the grim discovery.

Connor Bulluss, then 25, was taken into custody after being found by police at a chemist near the scene and was charged with her murder. He remains before the courts and is yet to enter any pleas.

At the time of the alleged homicide, several neighbours in the street said Ms Baraket was Bulluss’ landlord. Ms Baraket was listed as an owner at the address.

The property, which surfaced on realestate.com.au and is open for expressions of interest, is being sold by Kel Judd Real Estate.

Mr Judd acknowledged the property had a ‘sad recent history” in his listing.

“While the home has a sad recent history, it presents an incredible opportunity for one imaginative and industrious buyer to create their own happy ending on this blank canvas!,” the listing reads.

“We are offering a rare opportunity to completely transform what is currently a rough diamond into a sparkling gem,” Mr Judd added.

“The location is excellent – set in a quiet no-through street just a stone’s throw from the renowned Seagulls Leagues Club and the refurbished Panorama Plaza Shopping Complex, which includes tenancies such as Spar supermarket, bakery, butcher, hairdressers, and popular coffee and burger places.

The home is on a 699 sqm block and is close to Tweed amenities, according to the sales listing. Picture: Adam Head

“The property is also within an easy walk to the Terranora Inlet foreshore parkland, walking track, boat ramp and kid’s playground.”

Mr Judd went on to say that prospective buyers “should be aware that the property has been the scene of a serious and violent crime (allegedly) and is being sold where it is and how it is, in its current state and condition”.

He said the property “must and will be sold!”

Expressions of interest close at 2pm on August 14.
