A woman has been stabbed multiple times in the head, with the alleged offender still on the run. Read the latest.

A woman was rushed to Royal Darwin Hospital after being stabbed in the head multiple times in Palmerston, with the alleged offender still at large.

Northern Watch Commander Alex Noonan said emergency services first received reports that a female had allegedly been assaulted with an edged weapon by a female unknown to her about 1am Wednesday.

“The victim was being assisted by members of the public before St John NT and police arrived,” Commander Noonan said.

“We believe the assault occurred somewhere between Dunbar Park in Gray and Oasis Shopping Village.

“The victim said she did not know the alleged offender.”

A St John spokeswoman confirmed the woman was taken to RDH in a “serious condition”.

Commander Noonan said as the time of writing, police were still searching for the alleged offender and appealed to anyone with information to contact police.

“Investigations are ongoing and we urge anyone with information to contact 131 444 and quote reference number NTP2500074185.”
