A Territory man has been fined $5000 on the spot for not self-isolating after returning from a trip to Melbourne.

Victoria plunged into seven day 'circuit breaker' lockdown

A MAN has been fined for failing to self-isolate after returning to the Territory from Melbourne.

Northern Watch Commander George Matthews said the man was not at home when a compliance check was undertaken.

“Given the influx of arrivals from Victoria prior to the ‘hot spot’ declaration, it is anticipated there will be further self-isolation breaches identified in the coming days.

“The male was issued with a $5000 on the spot fine.”

Members of the public are encouraged to report suspected breaches of the chief health officer’s directions by ringing 131444 or Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000.
