A Territorian has been named among the top AFL Draft prospects for 2025 after a successful junior career both in the Territory and interstate.
Athletic ruckman Taj Murray, 18, stands at 201cm and could yet reach new heights after being named as one of the top 75 draft prospects to watch, by AFL talent ambassador Kevin Sheehan.
It comes ahead of the under-18 national championships on June 1 and Murray’s appearance for the NT Talent Academy in the Coates Talent League this week.
Murray first impressed for his junior club, the Nightcliff Tigers, and was a standout in the under-16 national championships for the NT in 2023, where he received All Australian honours.
Since then his stock has only increased, moving to South Australia in 2024 and playing for North Adelaide while also representing Prince Alfred College in school football.
Sheehan noted Murray’s ability to cover the ground extremely well and compete fiercely consistently despite splitting his time across multiple programs.
“Murray has been in good touch early this season, averaging 15 disposals, seven marks, 10 hitouts and kicking five goals in four matches for North Adelaide’s under-18s,” he wrote.
“Also a member of the AFL Academy, Murray continued his development with eight disposals, eight hitouts and five tackles in a match against Coburg in April, rotating between forward and ruck roles.”
