10 year-old boy arrested as part of massive police round up

A 10 year-old boy is among a group which has been taken into custody, with police yet to conclude their investigation into the wild night.

November 21, 2.20pm: A 10 year-old is in custody for allegedly taking part in a joy ride, while police have arrested another six people overnight.

The chaos started at 1.15am on Friday when police received reports of a pair of stolen vehicles driving dangerously through Palmerston Golf Club Course and causing extensive damage.

Strike Force Trident and Dog Operations Unit deployed to the area and two separate car chases were initiated.

During the pursuits, one of the stolen vehicles allegedly rammed a cop car and caused extensive damage.

The same stolen vehicle then turned on other police vehicles and allegedly attempted to ram them.

Tyre deflation devices were used to bring the rogue vehicles to a halt, resulting in both being apprehended.

Police then arrested four occupants, aged 16, 18, 23, and 34.

Strike Force Trident was forced back into action a short time later, however, when a third stolen vehicle was sighted.

After pursuing the vehicle through the northern suburbs, police again use deflation devices to cut off their target.

Two boys, aged 13 and 10, were arrested, as well as a 15 year-old girl.

Investigations remain ongoing and all alleged offenders remain in custody.

Charges are expected to follow.

Woman allegedly assaults another at Palmerston Bus Interchange

November 21, 1pm: A 55-year-old woman was arrested after she allegedly assaulted another woman with an edged weapon at the Palmerston Bus Interchange.

Northern Territory Police received reports of the incident about 5.45pm Thursday.

Police alleged the 55-year-old woman approached the woman – whose age is unknown – pulled her by her hair and assaulted her with an edged weapon.

The 55-year-old woman then fled the scene on foot.

Paramedics took the victim to Royal Darwin Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

CCTV operators tracked the location of the 55-year-old woman, and police arrested her nearby.

She remains in police custody with charges expected to be laid.

Teenage boys arrested after allegedly threatening woman with hammer

November 21, 1pm: Police have arrested two teenage boys who allegedly threatened multiple women with a hammer and stole two cars in Galiwinku.

Northern Territory Police received reports about 3.50am Friday that four boys had threatened three women with a hammer at two separate residences.

The four boys allegedly stole and abandoned a car, then stole another.

Police said with help from the community, officers located and arrested two boys, aged 13 and 14.

Both boys have been remanded in custody and taken to Darwin to attend court on November 24.

Police said the other two boys were still at large. Both stolen vehicles were recovered.

Cyclist struck by truck in Woolworths carpark

November 20, 11.10am: AWoolworths employee was taken to hospital by paramedics after the bike she was riding was struck by a truck on Thursday morning.

The woman, believed to be aged in her 30s, was struck while cycling in the carpark at Woolworths Nightcliff.

Two police vehicles and a St John Ambulance crew attended the scene as worried shoppers looked on.

Police confirmed witness accounts that the driver of the truck stopped immediately to assist the woman after the incident.

Emergency crews were still on the scene at midday on Thursday, and no life-threatening injuries were reported.

Katherine man, 42, found on street with multiple stab wounds

November 19, 1.30pm: NT Police are calling for information after a Katherine man was found on the street with multiple stab wounds.

The 42-year-old man was found on Acacia Drive near Casuarina Park in Katherine East about 12am on Wednesday morning.

He suffered non-life threatening injuries with investigations ongoing to identify the circumstances of the incident.

Police received reports that a white 4WD was spotted allegedly chasing a motorcycle on Acacia Drive about 11pm to 12.30pm that same evening, but have yet to confirm the link.

Anyone with CCTV footage of any activity around Martin Terrace, Acacia Drive and Gregory Court between 9pm Tuesday and 2am Wednesday is urged to contact police on 131 444 and quote reference number NTP2500114884.

Police arrest 16-year-old after he threw a gas bottle at home

November 19, 1.30pm: A 16-year-old has been arrested after allegedly attempting to enter a home with an edged weapon, which he later threw a gas bottle at.

The Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received multiple reports of the boy allegedly yelling outside a residence in the Bagot Community about 6.30am on Wednesday.

At the time he is alleged to have been holding an edged weapon and attempting to enter the home.

The offender allegedly threw a gas bottle at the home while another man attempted to de-escalate the situation before the offender fled the scene.

Police later found and arrested the 16-year-old alleged offender.

Investigations are ongoing and police urge anyone with information about the incident to make contact on 131 444, quoting reference number P25312123.
