TERRITORY developer Makrylos Group are having another crack at getting their “landmark” development in the Gardens built.
An application has been lodged with the NT Planning department for 101 units over a dual-tower, seven-storey development along Blake St.

It follows a long saga in which Makrylos has fought for the developments approval since it was first submitted in 2016.
The Elysium Green towers were subject to two NT Civil and Administrative Tribunal reviews, a Supreme Court decision on whether the development was a “landmark”, and a push by the NT Government to allow the Planning Minister to unilaterally reject development applications.
This proposal, with 101 two-and-three bedroom apartments, is smaller than the 150 units of the original application.
Its lower floors would also include a 120 sqm eatery, 130 sqm of office space and basement carparks.
“The proposed development blends architecture, landscape, and streetscape into an integrated whole, to produce a landmark development in the Blake Street Precinct,” the development application said.
“The proposal introduces several Territory-first high-rise residential design initiatives, and sustainability inclusions.”
There will be a gymnasium and lounge for residents.
“The building is designed as a green building and brings landscaping into the fabric of the building, with planting platforms at all levels to support vertical planting and a sky garden, and green roofs to the commercial and retail elements,” the development application said.
Following the development’s legal troubles, Elysium Green’s design was overhauled by architect Ian Mitchell, who had previously outlined to the NT Supreme Court why the previous design was not a landmark.
