Police now say that an audit of an armoury at a Katherine government facility that was broken into last Sunday has revealed no ammunition was stolen.

Police had previously said that while no weapons were taken in the raid on the armoury, a quantity of ammunition had been stolen.

Police are calling for information into the aggravated burglary which occurred in the vicinity of the industrial area in Katherine East Sunday morning.

A NTPF spokesperson provided an update on Tuesday saying the matter remains under investigation.

“Police will not be identifying the facility, however, we can confirm following an audit of stock that no firearms or ammunition were stolen,” the spokesperson said.

At the weekend police said that around 3am Sunday, police received a report that three buildings, including an armoury at a government facility had been unlawfully entered by unknown offenders in the industrial area.

They said that inside the armoury, the offenders allegedly stole an amount of ammunition, with no firearms reported stolen.

NT Emergency Services was also targeted, with the offenders attempting to steal rescue equipment.

The offenders fled after police responded to the alarm.
