The NT Government owned corporation has opened applications are now open for the 2026 intake of its highly sought-after apprenticeship program.

The programs is carried out in partnership with GTNT, the Northern Territory’s largest not-for-profit provider of employment and training services.

The 10 apprenticeship opportunities are with Power and Water teams in Darwin, Alice Springs and Tennant Creek.

Early Careers Program Adviser, Peter Morrison-Evans, said it’s always exciting to welcome enthusiastic new people to the team.

“We have 38 apprentices, 10 graduates and 14 trainees across our Darwin, Alice Springs and Tennant Creek sites and we’ll be welcoming 10 new apprentices before the end of 2025,” he said.

“It’s a privilege to be part of these people’s lives as they start their career with us, and to see their progress and confidence grow as they work through their qualifications.”

Power and Water has partnered with GTNT to host apprentices for more than 30 years, and says the partnership has been a huge success.

This year, seven Power and Water apprentices were recognised as finalists at the GTNT awards, with Georgina Siebert and Damien Aarons winning awards and Jack Rentsch recognised with the inaugural GTNT Foundation Commendation Award.

When reflecting on the last four years of his apprenticeship, Jack said completing his apprenticeship with Power and Water through GTNT was one of the best things he has ever done.

“During my time in Tennant Creek I have been supported by great mentors and work in a team environment that now feels like an extended family,” he said.
