2025-26 NTFL live stream: Watch PINT v Waratah in Round 1
The Greenants have opened this year’s NTFL campaign in promising fashion with a comfortable win while the Waratahs will need to regroup quickly. Watch the full REPLAY.
A seven-goal opening term has set up PINT for an impressive 35-point victory against a sluggish Waratahs to get their NTFL campaign off to a promising start.
Led by on-baller Archie Stevens who seemingly collected the Sherrin at will, PINT were never headed and ran out 15.8 (98) to 9.9 (63) victors.
Tahs started strongly with debutant Zac Withers – son of club legend Lincoln – getting plenty of the Sherrin in the midfield but against the run of play, PINT forward Stevens found himself alone in the goal square and he booted truly.
A minute later, big forward Riley Mayne marked strongly and goaled from 35m out and when Jayden Bear added another, the Ants started in the best possible manner.
Sam Kenna finally got Waratah on the board with a long shot on goal at the 13-minute mark, but ruckman Connor Mcdonald returned the favour for PINT and Jayden Bear snapped his second tor the term.
Thomas Schott then added to the red and white misery when he found space and goaled from close in.
Mayne’s second late in the quarter iced the cake for the Greenants in their season opener.
A well-crafted crumbing goal from PINT small forward James Boyer opened proceedings in the second but the busy Withers squared the ledger for Tahs and when Matthew Drayton repeated the dose less than a minute later, Tahs finally had something to celebrate.
Bailey Frauenfelder and Stevens steadied the Ants with a goal each.
An opportunist snap by Drayton was matched by the hard running Stevens and PINT went to the long break holding a 31-point lead.
Using his strength to advantage in a one-on-one contest, Mayne goaled from the square inside the first minute of the third. Kenna equalised with his second of the game one minute later but when Jack Brown snapped truly, the Ants appeared to have all the answers.
The last was a bit of an anti-climax and while Ant skipper Brad Ryan said that winning the toss was a bonus, he was nevertheless pleased with the even performance of his side especially in the first game of the season.
“Probably lucky to win the toss and had the best of the wind but that we sustained the lead at quarter time was a bonus and when Tahs came back at us in the second it was pleasing that we were able to withstand the pressure,” Ryan said.
“Although we had a reasonable lead at half time, we were conscious that Tahs are a quality side and were likely to make a comeback and a pleasing aspect was that our defence stood up each time Waratah challenged us.
“Pleasing to kick 15 goals and the spread was a feature – it really doesn’t matter who gets them.
“While winning in round one is ideal, but it is obviously early days, and we look forward to next week.”

Samuel Kenna kicked four for the vanquished but they weren’t able to get the margin under four goals and put some pressure on the Greenants.

PREVIEW
Waratah and PINT will look to show off their early season lists and push their credentials as sides that will be right in the mix throughout the NTFL campaign.
Every moment of the blockbuster clash will be live streamed from 4pm on Sunday by The NT News and KommunityTV as part of our season-long coverage.
WHY TO WATCH
New Waratah captain Scott Carlin was a close-run second in last year’s Nichols medal count and will be one of many wanting to prove himself for that honour.
Carlin leads a strong group that still isn’t that far out from premiership success and with the inclusion of SANFL player Cody Szust will be dangerous out of the midfield.
The Greenants also bring back plenty of strong mids including Thomas Schott and Elliott Chalmers with the intention of returning to finals in just their fourth premier league season.
Adelaide Crow Jimmy Rowe is in the PINT squad this year adding some top level experience and a goal kicker that the Greenants have lacked at times in recent years.
There’s plenty of names to be revealed and as these two sides are likely to be in contention throughout a season that is shaping up to be highly competitive.
