A battle between the reigning champions Nightcliff Tigers and the resurgent Tracy Village will take centre stage at DXC Arena this Sunday in the A-grade One-Day grand final.

Undefeated through the regular season, Tracy Village is hoping to steal away the crown from the Tigers in a clash that has some real feeling behind it.

“We are all still mates so it’s certainly going to be a bit of friendly competition out in the middle,” former Nightcliff player and new Tracy Village captain Janu Varatharajan said.

“We’d love to get one over them.

“We have a strong batting line-up and our bowlers, particularly Jake (Smith) has been absolutely killing it.

“I have a lot of confidence and belief in the team that we can get the flag despite Nightcliff being such a strong a talented team themselves.”

On the other side of the coin, fellow rookie captain Andrew Richards is also confident in his men to retain the crown.

“The boys have had a great couple of training sessions with high energy, and off the back of our performances last week, everyone is making a point to get back on the winning side of things,” he said.

“Tracy have plenty of great players to watch for but we’ve got some ideas heading into Sunday to keep all on their toes.

“I can see already it’s going to be a tough, hard fought game of cricket ahead of us but that’s what the Tigers love, those tough and challenging contests.”

The two sides will face-off at DXC Arena, Marrara Sunday 25, with play to get underway from 11am.
