Nightcliff and Nhulunbuy students go to tree-mendous efforts for National Tree Day 2025
The national day is usually in July but it was extended to October to ensure the students in Gove could also take part.
Nightcliff and Nhulunbuy students seed the day by planting hope and change for a greener future for National Tree Day.
The national date usually falls in July but this year, Bridge Toyota, who partnered with two NT primary schools extended the celebrations to October to allow the Gove community to take part.
With donated plants from the dealership, young people at Nightcliff Primary School in Darwin and Gove Primary School in Nhulunbuy took part in a morning of tree planting.
Students also carried out activities around sustainability and the protecting the environment to help spark conversations and show the important role young people can have in the world’s future.
Tegan Blockey, dealer principal of Bridge Toyota, said it was always one of the team’s favourite community days each year.
“National Tree Day is one of our favourite community activities because it allows us to spend time with local students and encourage hands-on learning about the environment,” Ms Blockey said.
“Watching their excitement as they plant trees and understand how their actions make a difference is incredibly rewarding.”
She said the annual project reflects the company’s commitment to drive positive change and equip young people to create a better future.
“We’ve been part of this initiative for several years now, and extending it to Gove this year made it even more special,” Ms Blockey added.
