Tasmania’s only Telsa store has been vandalised with graffiti, labelling CEO Elon Musk a “Nazi”.
The shop front, located in Derwent Park in Hobart, was graffitied with the phrase “Do you really want to drive a swasticar?” alongside a photo of Musk captioned “Heil TeSSla.”
Grassroots Action Network Tasmania (GRANT) posted photos of the vandalism to their Facebook page.
“A proud new rebranding of the Tesla outlet in nipaluna/Hobart has been spotted honouring their fascist in chief, Elon ‘the space Nazi’ Musk,” they wrote.
“The Tesla Hobart branch have decided to embrace their plummeting share prices and welcome Musk’s shift away from the usual EV greenwashing towards straight-up fascism and neoliberal totalitarianism.”
In a statement to news.com.au, Police said they were “aware” of the incident but are yet to receive a formal report.
“As always, anyone who is the victim of a crime is encouraged to report to police on 131 444 or triple-0 in an emergency,” a spokesman for Tasmania Police said.
The graffiti has since been painted over.
Musk has been embroiled in controversy since becoming a senior adviser to US President Donald Trump, in which he is head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
DOGE has already made a number of controversial moves, including the firing of thousands of public servants.
In January, Musk was accused of making a “Nazi salute” during a celebration of Mr Trump’s inauguration.
The X, SpaceX, and Tesla chief appeared on stage at the Capital One Arena in Washington, where supporters of the newly inaugurated president had gathered for a rally.
Upon thanking the crowd for returning Trump to the White House, Musk tapped the left side of his chest with his right hand and then extended his arm with his palm open, repeating the gesture to the crowd seated behind him.
Musk responded to the allegations by writing on X: “The ‘everyone is Hitler’ attack is sooo tired.”
