A young girl’s desperate search for her biological father led her straight to a monster and years of horrific sexual abuse — ending only when she became pregnant to him.
The horrifying details can now be published after the man lost his case in the NSW Court of Criminal Appeal on May 10, where he was challenging an 18-year jail term handed to him in Newcastle District Court.
The girl, who had never known her real father, was only seven when she and her aunt tried to track him down.

She found him living in an apartment in the Sydney CBD and formed a relationship with him.
When the girl’s mother moved overseas, he became her sole custodian in Australia.
When her mother returned to Australia, the District Court heard the man moved in with them and began showing pornography to his daughter on a laptop.
When the girl was aged between eight and nine, her mother again left Australia.
The court heard the father and daughter — whose identities cannot be revealed — shared the only bed at their home and that he began acting on his sexual interest.
When she turned 11, the court heard her father began paying her for sex. For the next four years, he would pay her $50 to have sex with him, which occurred regularly.
The court heard the girl was silent about her living hell because the man abused his authority and control by ordering her not to tell anyone.
The sexual abuse stopped when she was 15 but only because she fell pregnant.
The pair researched ways in which they could induce a miscarriage but were unsuccessful. Eventually, she had an abortion at Mount Druitt.
The cycle of abuse only ended when the girl confided to a friend about what had been happening. From there, she told more friends, a psychologist and finally the police.
The father was arrested on October 20, 2016, and has been behind bars ever since.
He pleaded guilty to five charges, including three counts of aggravated sexual intercourse with a person aged between 10 and 14.
On October 27, 2017, District Court Judge Peter Berman sentenced the man to 18 years’ jail with a non-parole period of 13 and a half years.
In sentencing the man Judge Berman said: “The case before me today is in my view one of the worst cases of sexual exploitation that has come before the courts of recent times”.
The man challenged the sentence, arguing that Judge Berman was too severe in sentencing for one of the offences and wrongly categorised the seriousness of the offending.
The CCA disagreed and rejected the man’s appeal.
