Woman, 84, attacked in bedroom of retirement village in North Turramurra

An elderly Sydney woman has been attacked by an intruder in the bedroom of her retirement village unit in North Turramurra, suffering serious injuries to her face and upper body.

An elderly Sydney woman has been attacked by an intruder in her bedroom, suffering serious injuries to her face and upper body.

The 84-year-old came face-to-face with the stranger when she returned to her retirement village unit in North Turramurra soon after noon on Saturday.

Police said the man assaulted the woman before fleeing.

She is in a serious but stable condition in hospital with multiple injuries, including cuts to her face, chest and arm.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Detective Chief Inspector Luke Spurr said: “This is an absolutely appalling and cowardly act and let me reassure you, these type of offences are uncommon and that police are doing everything in their power to fully investigate this matter and to locate the offender.

“Understandably both her and her family are in a state of shock in relation tho this horrific, cowardly, appalling offence.

“We need help from the public. If anyone has any information in relation to this incident or if anyone was in the area at the time who may have seen anything suspicious or if anyone was in the area who may have dashcam or bike cam footage please contact police urgently.”
