St Hilda’s School, Gold Coast: Dr Julie Wilson Reynolds resigns as principal effective immediately

The principal of a wealthy Gold Coast private school has resigned suddenly, leaving parents stunned.

PARENTS at one of the city’s most prestigious schools have been left in shock after the sudden resignation of their principal.

In a letter sent by Anglican Church Southern Queensland to parents at St Hilda’s School, it was revealed that Dr Julie Wilson Reynolds “has advised the School Council that she intends to resign as Principal.

“Julie and the School Council have subsequently agreed that this will be effective immediately.”

Deputy principal Wendy Lauman will lead the school until a new principal is appointed.

The news comes just weeks before the school’s annual open morning, to be held on August 9.

The letter sent to parents also reads: “On behalf of the Diocese of Brisbane, the St Hilda’s School Council and the wider community, I would like to thank Dr Wilson Reynolds for her leadership, outstanding contributions to the School and her devotion to the pastoral care of students and staff.”

During her time at the school, Dr Wilson Reynolds led the school to “achieve many successes”, including a flexible learning program, building strategic connections with the Queensland Girls Secondary Schools Sporting Association and the Isolated Children’s Parents’ Association, the letter reads.

The Anglican Schools Commission ends the letter by saying: “Dr Wilson Reynolds will leave with our sincere gratitude for her dedication to the School, and with our best wishes for her future educational endeavours.”

Dr Wilson Reynolds has also written in education magazines describing leadership qualities.
