NSW richest schools revealed — find out how much they make

They have produced a host of Australian celebrities, politicians and sporting stars. An analysis of the financial records of almost 3000 NSW schools has revealed the richest ones. SEARCH THE LIST

It counts actor Hugh Jackman, former Wallaby Steve Cutler, and a host of politicians including former ex-prime minister Gough Whitlam among its alumni.

But Knox Grammar School can add another title — NSW’s richest school.

The private school on Sydney’s north shore raked in a gross income of $272.3m in the three years to 2017, an analysis of almost 3000 NSW schools’ financial information on the federal government’s MySchool website found.

That eye-watering figure does not include any deductions for income allocated to capital works or debt servicing.

The school with the second highest income was Sydney Grammar School, which had a gross income of $230.1 million across those three years.

Barker College had the third highest gross income in NSW across 2015, 2016 and 2017, bringing in a combined total of $214.8 million.

SCECGS Redlands at Cremorne on Sydney’s north shore — which boasts TV personality Catriona Rowntree and poet Elizabeth Allen as former students — rounded out the top 10, pulling in $165.7m in the three years to 2017.
