Fears as search for Shyanne-Lee Tatnell, 14, fails to locate girl after more than a month

There’s been a twist in the search for a teenage girl who went missing over a month ago, with investigators desperate to find clues.

Police have revealed a major twist after a 14-year-old girl disappeared more than a month ago.

Shyanne-Lee Tatnell, 14, was last seen in Launceston at around 8.30pm on April 30, and has not been sighted since.

Tasmania Police Inspector Nathan Johnston on Monday said forensic testing of items seized over the past four weeks have failed to give investigators any clue of the girl’s whereabouts.

“In recent weeks police seized a number of items during a search and submitted them for forensic testing,” Inspector Johnston said.

“The results have been received and there is no forensic link between these items and Shyanne-Lee.

“Police will continue to follow avenues of inquiry and investigate every piece of information received – I urge anyone with information, no matter how small, to please come forward and contact us.”

Shyanne-Lee has been described as about 160cm tall, of a slim build with blonde hair.

She was wearing a cream coloured hoodie with dark writing on the chest and shoulder area, with bike shorts when she was last seen.

Inspector Johnston said police were looking into “several vehicles of interest” seen in the area where the girl went missing.

“Of these vehicles police have identified all but two,” he said.

“It is possible the driver and any occupants in these vehicles may have seen something that can assist police to locate Shyanne-Lee or determine her movements.”

The case is still being treated as a missing persons, with no indication it has turned into a homicide investigation.

Around 100 members of family and friends held a vigil for Shyanne-Lee in Launceston’s City Park on Sunday.

“If Shyanne-Lee is out there, I remind her that she is not in any trouble, please contact us or family – we all want to know she is OK,” Inspector Johnston said.
