The woman charged over the alleged stabbing death of a man in Darwin has appeared in court for the first time.
Maria Jimmy, 31, was in the dock at Darwin Local Court on Monday, facing charges stemming from a fatal incident in Alawa on February 28.
Ms Jimmy was formally charged on Sunday evening with one count of murder and one count of aggravated assault.
The charges relate to the death of a 33-year-old man, who was found unconscious with stab wounds to both legs.
It is further alleged Ms Jimmy also stabbed a 51-year-old woman in the leg at a residence on Alawa Crescent.
The man later died at Royal Darwin Hospital, while the older woman was treated for a stab wound to her leg.
In court, Acting Judge Giles O’Brien-Hartcher presided over the hearing.
No application for bail was made, and Ms Jimmy was remanded in custody.
She is scheduled to reappear at the end of April but has requested to be excused from attending that court date.
NT Police have yet to release further details on the case.
