Man suffers head injuries after violent home invasion in Canley Vale, Sydney

A man suffered head injuries during a violent home invasion by masked men, and police believe a shot was also fired into a gate.

A man was left with injuries to his head after a group of masked men invaded his home in Sydney’s southwest.

About 11pm on Monday, emergency services were called to a home on Ravenswood St in Canley Vale following reports of a home invasion.

On arrival, officers were told several males – all wearing head coverings – had forced entry to the home before threatening the occupants with a firearm.

Police say a 42-year-man was assaulted before the group stole cash and left in a black Audi Q5 SUV.

Police believe a shot was also fired into a gate.

Paramedics treated the 42-year-old man at the scene for a head injury before he was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition.

There have been no other reports of injuries at this time.

Police have established a crime scene and begun an investigation into the incident.
