Teen charged with alleged assault at Nerang train station
A teen has been charged following a family’s plea for answers after a father was allegedly assaulted at a Gold Coast train station.

A 16-year-old boy has been charged in relation to an alleged assault at a Gold Coast train station which left a family scrounging social media for answers.
The boy has been charged with one count of assault occasioning bodily harm following the alleged assault at Nerang train station on February 18.
The charges come just days after the alleged victim’s family took to social media in search of answers.
A post on social media by Ai Zhou on Wednesday was soliciting further information about the alleged attack.
A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman previously confirmed police had been called about 1.30pm that day to the Gold Coast University Hospital in relation to a man who was being treated there following a suspected assault.
“Subsequent investigations indicate around 8.40am that morning, the 60-year-old man was sitting at the Nerang train station when he was assaulted by a male, causing him to fall to the ground,” a spokeswoman said.
A QPS spokesman said the boy and the hospitalised man were not known to each other.
Paramedics were called to Warrener St near Nerang train station at 8.50am, a Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman confirmed.
The QAS spokesman said the man was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition with a facial injury.
A Queensland Rail (QR) spokeswoman confirmed there had been a police incident at the bus shelter near Nerang train station on Monday morning.
She said QR was assisting police with their investigation and had provided CCTV footage.
Ms Zhou said her father had suffered serious complications while in hospital, including requiring a blood transfusion.
