An adventure park tucked in an Otways forest has been closed following the death of a man on a recreational course earlier this month.

A coronial investigation will be launched into how a 40-year-old from Geelong died on January 4 at the Treetops Adventure tourism attraction in Yeodene.

The Highton man and a teenage girl were rushed to a Colac hospital following the tragic accident.

Treetops is located in the Otways native forest and offers thrillseekers the chance to soar among messmate trees, ride a pegasus and “conquer high monkey bars”.

The park is popular with holiday-makers visiting the Great Ocean Road region.

A statement on the company website issued a notice to customers that the park was “temporarily closed” until mid-February.

Treetops Adventure park has been temporarily closed.

“We apologise for any inconvenience,” the notice read.

The company has been contacted for comment.

It’s understood WorkSafe has launched a probe into the incident, with officers from the workplace health and safety watchdog attending the scene.

It’s still unclear what location within the park the death took place.

This masthead is not suggesting any wrongdoing from Treetops Adventure.

Victoria Police is preparing a report for the coroner.

EARLIER: Man dies on ‘recreational course’ in Yeodene

Uncertainty surrounds the death of a man during a “recreational course” on Possum Ridge Rd in Yeodene on Saturday just after midday.

A police spokeswoman said officers would prepare a report for the coroner following the man’s death.

“The exact cause of the man’s death during a recreational course is yet to be determined but is not being treated as suspicious,” she said.

An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman confirmed paramedics responded to an incident in Yeodene at about 12.10pm.

It is understood at least 10 emergency services vehicles attended the scene.

The incident occurred on Possum Ridge Rd, where Treetops Adventure Yeodene Park and Possum Ridge Glamping are located, however the exact location of the death is yet to be confirmed.
