Man dead after falling from balcony at Broadbeach

A 41-year-old man has tragically passed away after falling 20 storeys from a Broadbeach highrise.

A man has died after falling more than 20 storeys from a balcony in Broadbeach on Tuesday.

Police and paramedics were called to Avani Broadbeach Residences on the Gold Coast Highway at 5.17pm on July 29 after reports a person had fallen.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said the man in his 40s sustained “life-threatening injuries” and was not taken to hospital.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said the 41-year-old man died at the scene.

The QPS spokeswoman said a report would be prepared for the coroner.

A resident said there were multiple police cars and ambulances at the scene.

A spokeswoman for Minor Hotels, which operates Avani Broadbeach Residence, said the “circumstances surrounding the death were currently being investigated”.

“Minor Hotels regretfully reports the death of an individual at Avani Broadbeach Residences,” she said.

“Hotel management is assisting authorities with their enquiries.

“Minor Hotels remain committed to ensuring the safety and protection of all its guests as a foremost priority.”

Avani Broadbeach is a combination of hotel rooms and residential apartments.
