Man, 44, fronts Alice Springs court after arrest for alleged historical sexual assaults
An almost two year investigation by police has culminated with a man fronting court over alleged historical sexual assaults. Find out more.
A man charged with historical sexual offences is back out on the streets following his first court appearance in Alice Springs.
The 43-year-old, who cannot be legally named, was arrested Wednesday morning, NT police said, and fronted court the same morning.
The alleged historical sexual assaults include an alleged indecent assault which took place in October 2021, involving a woman police said was known to the man.
Police alleged a further sexual assault took place in January 2024, with police beginning their investigations into the allegations February 2024.
The man has been charged with one count of sexual intercourse without consent, and two counts of committing an act of gross indecency.
Under NT Law, the man cannot legally be named, unless he is committed to the Supreme Court.
He appeared in the Alice Springs Local Court Wednesday, where he was granted bail by Judge John McBride.
His matter will return to court December 11.
