Tasmania’s newest Olympic hero Ariarne Titmus OAM has landed back in Launceston and has wasted no time in revisiting her old local haunts.
The duel gold medallist has taken to social media posting photos of her arrival at Launceston Airport, a selfie at the Launceston Leisure and Aquatic Centre, a photo of a local cafe visit and a selfie in a glamorous frock, ready for a friend’s party.
Titmus’ visit coincides with the naming of a local swimming pool in her honour.
The reigning Olympic champion in the women’s 200 and metre freestyle was awarded an Order of Australia Medal in this year’s Australia Day honours.
Titmus, a former Riverside and Launceston Aquatic Club member, and her family moved from Tasmania to Queensland in 2015. She attended St Patricks College in Launceston until the move.
