A woman has died almost two weeks after she was allegedly attacked by her former partner. He will face court in just one week.

A woman has died as a result of injuries inflicted on her during an alleged domestic violence attack.

A woman has died almost two weeks after she was allegedly attacked by her former partner.

The 36-year-old woman died on Monday evening after having been in the Royal Darwin Hospital’s ICU for six days.

Detective Senior Sergeant Jon Beer said the investigation into the alleged attack on July 11 that led to the woman’s hospitalisation was “complex”.

Police said they did not believe a weapon was involved.

He said a 45-year-old man would appear in the Darwin Local Court on July 31 in relation to the incident.

Sergeant Beer said the man had been charged with recklessly endangering life, intending serious harm, and causing any harm.

“We have already spoken to a large number of people but we are still urging anyone with information to contact police on 131 444,” he said.

“Police are particularly interested in CCTV and dashcam from Railway Tce between 8:30pm and 9:30pm on 11 July 2024.

“Police are confident that a serious act of domestic violence was committed on the night of 11 July 2024 and if you or someone you know are experiencing difficulties due to domestic violence, support services are available, including, but not limited to, 1800RESPECT (1800 737 732) or Lifeline 131 114.”

An NT Police spokesperson previously said the woman told police she had been hit in the head.

The spokesperson said the woman was taken to Katherine Hospital for treatment on July 11 before being transferred to RDH two days later.

The spokesperson said the woman was moved to the ICU in a critical condition on July 16.
